Oh, just look at it.

That's what the judges for the B3ta Phallic Logo Awards had to say about the logo below used by the Brazilian Institute for Oriental Studies:

Am I missing what that is supposed to be? I'm apparently not seeing what the designers were trying to do. Needless to say, it won the competition.

EDIT: Since RobG didn't get it ... click the link to see company logos that look like they have penises in them. Wow, Rob.

How to make me

How to make an Angie
Ingredients:
5 parts success
5 parts self-sufficiency
5 parts instinct
Method:
Layer ingredients in a shot glass. Add caring to taste! Do not overindulge!

OK ... I usually don't post these in my blog, but this one was just too weird. I've had conversations with my mom before that maybe the women in our family are TOO self-sufficient. Apparently I have a double-whammy of getting that from her and my grandma on my dad's side, but I digress. This came up in another one of those "Dr. Phil" conversations ... another one of which I just got on Sunday haha. :)

Do not overindulge though? I don't know about that ...

Citification complete

I decided I few days ago that I was wasting a lot of money paying for a car that I drove a few times a month (well, it had been bugging me that I was wasting so much money on it for a few months, but I only decided to bite the bullet and do something about it a few days ago). Now, I'm happy ... and a little nervous ... to say that my uncle is going to take it off my hands for me. I think he would have rather had the red Jetta that I had a couple years back, but he was nice enough to accept my current one instead.

So, yeah ... anyone who really knows me, and how I am with my cars, understands what a HUGE decision this is. OK, back to the "a little nervous" part ... now that I'm typing this, I'm completely scared, but it will be an interesting little experiment. Angie without a car ... crazy! :O

I'll try out the Zipcar service for a little bit to see how that works for my three trips a month to the store, and if it turns out I think I made a horrid mistake, then I guess I'll buy another one. And, Mike, if this comes back to bite me in the ass, I'm coming after YOU for planting this seed in my head again! Just a heads up.

Oh, and an added bonus of the transaction ... this means that in two or three weeks, I get an unexpected visit back to Indiana when I deliver the car to New Richmond. Yay. :)

Texas Tech starts the New Year right

In honor of Coach Knight becoming the winningest coach in Division I history with Texas Tech's win over New Mexico today ... the Top 10 reasons to love Bob Knight:

10. The tradition of basketball that he built at IU. (Hopefully now it begins to regenerate.)

9. No matter how you interpret his comments, you always know exactly where he's coming from.

8. His quote about Mike Davis from a couple of years ago: "The guy that's coaching there is a guy that I told Pat we were going to replace at the end of the season. There's no way that I would have kept the guy any longer than that."

7. He never cheats to get players ... and can still get wins because of the way he's able to motivate the guys he can get.

6. He cares about his players graduating.

5. He surprisingly supplied me with his own dose of reality TV in 2006.

4. He coached the last team to have an undefeated season ... in 1976.

3. The always-memorable press conferences.

2. Watching him choke back tears today while listening to Frank Sinatra's "My Way" being played over the loud speakers in Lubbock, Texas.

1. He shares my feelings on professional basketball and can articulate it like no one else: "If the NBA were on Channel 5, and a bunch of frogs making love were on Channel 4, I'd watch the frogs, even if they were coming in fuzzy."

I still wish it could have been at Indiana, and I still remember the feeling I had working at the Daily News that black, Sunday night in 2000 when the reports were coming in that he had been fired. You sure wouldn't have had to sell tickets at $8.80 to pack Assembly Hall, but it is what it is. Congrats to Bob.

Finally, some Indiana basketball nostalgia:
